TRACEY D WHALLEY

ABOUT ME

I am very lucky to live in the beautiful Dorset countryside within walking distance of the South West Coast Path and the famous Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.

The sea and boating have been an important part of my life which brought me to Dorset from Hertfordshire in 1998 to become the first lady salesperson at Sunseeker Sales, Poole selling Sunseeker Powerboats.

My love of boats started at an early age, spending every weekend on my parent’s boat at St Neots on the Great River Ouse. I had a little speedboat called ‘Tigress’ and my other passion was water-skiing. Many family holidays were spent voyaging further afield around the Norfolk coast to Wells-Next-The-Sea, Great Yarmouth, The Norfolk Broads and across The Wash to Boston and up to York.

I have always loved painting and drawing. My first job was training as an Electrical Engineer Draughtswoman at Oscar Faber & Partners, designing the operating theatre lighting and electrical systems for St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. I also attended evening classes at St Albans School of Art.

My other great love is travel which has taken me to over forty different countries from Thailand to Brazil and I have lived in Spain, Italy, the South of France and recently in Montenegro.

In 2009 I studied Garden Design at Kingston Maurward College, passing with a BTEC Distinction and have designed many gardens within south Dorset, many with a Mediterranean theme and a hint of Italian Cyprus Trees.

At the tender age of 52, I decided to pick up a paintbrush again and wish that I had started painting again much earlier.

My experiences of boats and the sea is now portrayed in my paintings and the constant changes in the weather and the seasons. I use acrylic paint as I find it is easier to work with than with oils.

I had forgotten how wonderful it feels to produce a painting that one is proud of and which someone else will hang on their wall, not only to enjoy but also to treasure for many years to come and who knows, may even go up in value!

Many of my original paintings are exhibited for sale, together with limited edition prints and cards at our wonderful local pub, The Sailor’s Return in Chaldon Herring. My work can also be purchased directly..

I also undertake commissions.

Thank you for looking at my work and for your interest.
